Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. This page explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights.

Last updated: May 2026

In brief: The is-cool-me marketing site does not require you to log in and does not collect personal data beyond what standard web infrastructure (Cloudflare) processes automatically. The dashboard at dash.is-pro.dev uses GitHub OAuth for authentication and is covered by its own privacy practices.

1. Who We Are

is-cool-me is a free subdomain service operated as a community project. For privacy enquiries, you can reach us at fd@lighthosting.eu.org or legal@lighthosting.eu.org.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 This Marketing Site (is-pro.dev)

The main marketing website you are currently viewing does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not intentionally collect personal information through this site beyond what is described in sections 3 and 4 below (infrastructure-level processing).

If you use the cookie consent banner and choose to accept cookies, your preference is stored in your browser's localStorage. This preference is not transmitted to our servers.

2.2 The Dashboard (dash.is-pro.dev)

The dashboard uses GitHub OAuth for authentication. When you sign in via GitHub, we receive limited profile information from GitHub (such as your GitHub username and, depending on your GitHub privacy settings, your email address). This data is used to identify your account and manage your subdomain registrations. Please refer to GitHub's privacy statement for information on what GitHub shares and how you can control it.

Your registration details (subdomain name, chosen DNS records) are stored to provide the service and are used to configure Cloudflare DNS entries.

2.3 Email Addresses

Depending on your GitHub account settings, the email address associated with your GitHub account may appear in certain technical records or correspondence. We recommend reviewing your GitHub email privacy settings if this is a concern. See GitHub's email preference docs for guidance.

3. Cloudflare and Infrastructure

Our DNS infrastructure is managed through Cloudflare. As part of normal operations, Cloudflare may log network-level data — including IP addresses — when DNS queries or HTTP requests are made to our service. This processing is subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

We do not have direct access to Cloudflare's network-level logs. IP addresses are not intentionally collected by is-cool-me for user profiling or marketing purposes.

4. Cookies and Analytics

This marketing site may use cookies or similar browser storage technologies for:

  • Cookie consent preference: We store your response to the cookie consent banner in localStorage to avoid showing it repeatedly. No personal data is included.
  • Analytics: We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (e.g., which pages are visited). If and when analytics are enabled, we will update this policy to name the service used. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
  • Advertising: We may display advertisements on this site (e.g., via Google AdSense) to help support the service. Ad networks may use cookies to serve relevant ads. Please refer to your browser settings or tools like the Google Ad Settings page to manage ad personalisation.

You can decline non-essential cookies via the consent banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing your browser's cookies and localStorage at any time.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services whose privacy policies apply to their respective processing activities:

6. Data Retention

We retain subdomain registration data for as long as your subdomain is active plus a reasonable period thereafter for administrative purposes. If you request deletion of your registration, we will remove your DNS records and associated data from our systems.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection law including:

  • The right to access personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to request correction of inaccurate data.
  • The right to request deletion of your data.
  • The right to object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights, or for any privacy-related enquiry, contact us at legal@lighthosting.eu.org.

8. Children's Privacy

The service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
